A note from: Connie Statz.

I think I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend for the ;>very first annual Camp Benedict Cyclists Ride!> The people: riders, crew, the Brainerd Lakes Community, Rob @ Camp Knutson for our sleeping arrangements, our sponsors, I could go on and on about all the support and love that was felt. We had fun, we laughed, we worked and rode hard all weekend. All for just one reason: to support a camp for families living with HIV/AIDS. Camp Benedict is a camp I have always known had heart and boy did I find out that the Camp Benedict Cyclists had just as much heart.

The ride was incredible and it made my heart just that much stronger, made me have just a bit more courage, made me just a bit more humble because so many gave it their all and what a success it was. From my heart to all of you, who are now family, I cannot put into words the love I feel for each one of you. And just one more thing....did we not have the best cook ever!

Thank you everyone,

Love,

Connie

I also want to thank everyone!  It was incredible to feel all your support and trust you have in us to ensure individuals and families with HIV/AIDS get the camp experience and emotional support you worked so hard to fundraise for.  (Many for the first time ever!)  It is a life altering experience in many ways for many with HIV/AIDS & their families.

The CBC committee & Camp Board wants to extend an invitation for all involved on the ride this year to email their comments/suggestions back to us.  Please feel free to remain anonymous if you wish (check your email address).

The week long experience starts in a beautiful wooded Lakes area in Northern Minnesota that is very relaxed and sets people at ease. What oten happens at camp, and it does at every camp, are the friendships that are built. Everyone at camp no matter where they are from, all share one common bond, HIV/AIDS. This is where the week starts.  After a short time the campers realize that they are not alone in their struggle, but are now part of a bigger "US". Camp Benedict utilizes an educational model mixed with afternoons to relax and do all the camp activities you would expect. Our programs in the mornings are planned to educate, provide support in areas to counter-act the negative effects felt by society, and to seek to empower those who have been dis-empowered by HIV/AIDS. All campers from the little ones to the older and wiser become a community, a family before the week ends.

Next Camp Session: August 23rd-27th 2010.  Registration online is currently: CLOSED
